This is a very cool perspective and I wonder how I could incorporate these concepts into my own homestead. Thank you for sharing your approach in such a detailed manner and giving me food for thought!

We have fish in our troughs too (on and off - the cats go fishing sometimes) but I never thought of doing THIS!

Do you use the fish manure?

Fish manure is loaded with nutrients. These troughs are drained for the greenhouse on a gravity fed system when we want to fertilize crops. I simply outfitted my troughs with a spigot on the bottom.

Awesome!

Thank you so much for reading! Yes I just removed the cap that comes installed on the troughs and inserted a pipe. The pipe is connected to a locking spigot with a hose hookup on the outside which allows me to drain when needed!

THEY ARE SO CHUNKY! I love that they're making a come back and people are realizing its a cheaper + healthier alternative then chemicals or even the laborious task of cleaning a trough out!
